14.3: Rotate a Figure
Rotate \(\triangle ABC\; 90°\) clockwise about the origin.
  • Clockwise means
  • For rotation of \(90°\) clockwise (or \(270°\) counterclockwise) about the origin, \((x,\; y) \longrightarrow (y,\; -x)\).
  • Example: \(B(-2,\;4) \longrightarrow B’(4,\;2)\)

Rotate \(\triangle ABC\; 180°\) about the origin.
  • Rotation of \(180°\) is the same clockwise or counterclockwise.
  • For rotation of \(180°\) about the origin, \((x,\; y) \longrightarrow (-x,\; -y)\).
  • \(A(-2,\;-5) \longrightarrow A’(2,\;5)\)
